What is a Doula? What do you do?
A "doula" is a trained professional who provides continuous emotional, physical, spiritual and informational support to a mother before, during, and after birth. The word “doula” comes from the Greek word meaning “servant”.
We are a non-profit ministry dedicated to ministering to, advocating for, and educating any woman who wants support or who would otherwise be alone throughout their pregnancy and birth time.
We believe that through education and genuine love and support we can help women make informed decisions for themselves and for their child thereby increasing the positive outcomes for them both. Also, by serving women during this season of life we hope to show them the love of their creator, and lead them into a deeper relationship with Jesus and those around them.
We believe every woman who wants the support of a doula should have one. Therefore we offer a sliding scale for our services. This makes our services very affordable - sometimes for no cost. Please inquire below even if you think you cannot afford a doula. Money should not hinder everyone from having a doula at their birth if they want one. Our Doulas
Our team of women are professional doulas dedicated to loving and serving birthing women.
Vanessa Power, CD(DONA) • Doula
Vanessa is a speech pathologist by education and training and a nurturer by design. She has been a certified DONA doula since 2014 and is training to become a breastfeeding counselor. Vanessa is convinced that no one should have to birth alone. She currently resides in Dakar, Senegal with her family.
Jessica Stephens, CD(DONA) • Doula
Jessica started serving birthing families in 2014. As a certified DONA doula she has assisted dozens of birthing women and new mothers during pregnancy, childbirth and postpartum periods. She is passionate about providing a doula for every woman who wants one. Jessica is mom to four and wife to one. She resides in Tampa, FL.
Monica Sanders, CD(DONA) • Doula
Monica began birth work in 2012. She has since become a certified DONA doula, a birth assistant at a local birth center and most recently, a grandmother. Monica is fluent in Spanish and is passionate about serving women as they welcome the miracle of new life. She and her family currently reside in Tampa, FL.
